I would have never thought that so many people would want to apply to be an officer. It amazes me that they had to use the convention center! And, talk about a variety of characters!Kathleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01740696035980768212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33226151.post-22782326824640312502008-11-12T11:57:00.000-05:002008-11-12T11:57:00.000-05:00Yeah, I co-taught a class on mystery writing at th...Yeah, I co-taught a class on mystery writing at the local Community College's Continuing Ed Program. I think I netted a couple of dollars an hour.

But it was fun.Wilfred Bereswillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03019217952304685255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33226151.post-58727373409008858432008-11-12T09:13:00.000-05:002008-11-12T09:13:00.000-05:00Will, I think the girl probably thought that if sh...Will, I think the girl probably thought that if she admitted to having citations, she may not get the job. However, I was talking with the woman who is behind the hiring and she told me that they do a background check (so the citations would have been discovered anyway) and they do take into consideration if an arrest happened, how long ago was it and how severe the crime. A few traffic tickets weren't going to keep her out of the academy.

Karen, like your election duties, if you figure the payment per hour, my proctor gig wasn't exactly going to contribute a substantial amount to my wealth. But I figure it's one of the rare instances when doing research didn't COST me anything. Looking at it that way, I definitely came out ahead.Annettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02755947919433555176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33226151.post-59040782569702169312008-11-12T09:06:00.000-05:002008-11-12T09:06:00.000-05:00Congratulations, Jennie! (like I need another one).

Odd jobs and picking up spending money is nice, when you can get it. I don't have time anymore, unfortunately. Not entirely sure whether that's good or bad.

And since I'm here, let me share that my editor emailed me yesterday to say that Fatal Fixer-Upper made it to #11 on Barnes & Noble's weekly sales lists last week, for mass market paperback mystery. Woo-hoo!Jennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01442754671445893599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33226151.post-85488592652330430382008-11-12T08:38:00.000-05:002008-11-12T08:38:00.000-05:00Extra money is always a good thing. She does very well, even has a masters acquired in the US, but she does not always consistently remember how to punctuate or spell.

And I just worked as an election official last week, which should net about $150. It was a long day (6 AM to 8:45 PM), but it felt like doing my civic duty, to help our voting process go smoothly.

Karen in OhioAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33226151.post-86776287137634341252008-11-12T08:25:00.000-05:002008-11-12T08:25:00.000-05:00Shoot, I couldn't tell you how many traffic citati...Shoot, I couldn't tell you how many traffic citations I've had. It had to do with how many traffic citations you'd had and she wanted to know if it referred only to those where she'd been found guilty. But part or our instructions had been that we couldn't help them with the questions.

My fellow CPA alumnus told me he found studying the civil service books came in really handy.Annettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02755947919433555176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33226151.post-22787306861839498532008-11-12T07:20:00.000-05:002008-11-12T07:20:00.000-05:00I always thought it would be fun to take a sample ...I always thought it would be fun to take a sample test just to see if I could pass it!
