Phone numbers of girlfriends I haven't called for 20+ years. When I was traveling through China, I quickly realized that I may have a need to get in a cab and get back to my hotel which normally had both a "Western Name" and a "Chinese Name" which when pronounced sounded completely different. I began carrying a card from the hotel with the name in English and Chinese, so I could hop in a cab and point to the name on the card. I also put the Room Number on the back so I remember. Again, while I could verbalize Chinese numbers, I couldn't read them.

That habit stays with me today. I ALWAYS carry the card key in the paper jacket with the room number written on it. There MAY have been a time or two coming from a bar that my method came in handy.Wilfred Bereswillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03019217952304685255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33226151.post-2686204846449299322009-07-30T08:23:42.539-04:002009-07-30T08:23:42.539-04:00Hank, I have lost a bottle of prescription meds. ...Hank, I have lost a bottle of prescription meds.
