The If Money Were No Object Game

My hubby and I took a drive this weekend to check on our camper in Confluence. It was fine, as I expected. After all, we haven’t had any real snowfall this winter. Mostly it was an excuse to get away for the day.

The drive to Confluence is about two-hours long on mostly two-lane, scenic roads. The trip is as pleasant as the destination. And it tends to spark some interesting conversations, most of which begin with If money were no object…

The rest of the question varies each time we play this game. This trip the question was, If money were no object where would you want to live?

My answer was New Mexico.

After being together for over 30 years, I actually surprised my husband with this one. I think he expected me to say Confluence or Clarion or Lake Erie. All favorite Pennsylvanian spots of mine, but come on. IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT requires thinking BIG.

(Okay, some of you probably think I'm not thinking big enough and should have picked someplace like Paris. But this is MY fantasy and I'm sticking with New Mexico.)

He probably wouldn’t have been too surprised if I’d said Wyoming. I’m pretty sure I lived there in a previous life because I’ve always been drawn to that state. In my mind at least. In reality, I’ve never made it farther west than Indiana. Eastern Indiana.

Anyhow, I figure winters might be kinder in New Mexico than in Wyoming.

So now it’s your turn to play. If money were no object, where would you want to live?

If money were no object . . .
I'd still want to mainly live here in Pittsburgh, but I'd travel a whole lot more, living temporarily (for a week or two) in lots of exotic and interesting places

Sounds like a fun plan, Gina.

I'd buy a bed and breakfast in Gettysburg. Not very exotic, I know!

I'd buy Mystery Lovers.

I'd still spend summers in Pittsburgh, but winters would definitely be somewhere warm. I'm thinking Puerto Rico - the southwest corner on the Caribbean. Been there and it's gorgeous.

Joyce, I like that choice. I'll be your first guest!

Mary, just watch out for those pirates!

I like this game....

Summers in Colorado, Winters in Austin. :))

As for New Mexico, you might want to winter there, but depending on where you decide to go, summer can be brutal. Of course, elevation helps. Santa Fe is beautiful. Taos in the summer is peaceful. Angel Fire and Red River are sleepy little towns in the summer.

And if you have a camper, there's always becoming a winter Texan. You wouldn't believe how many people do it. Corpus Christi (at the coast) is a favorite haunt, and lovely.

Did you know if Texas is your official residence, there is no state income tax? Oops, I forgot. Money is no object, so that wouldn't matter. :)

Great game!

Thanks for playing, C.L. Love your choices and your suggestions!

Because we have children (and issues to consider, like schooling and relatives we want our kids to grow up spending time with), we'd probably stay here and just travel a lot more. When the kids grow up... heck, I'll probably still want to live within a reasonable driving distance of them, so EVEN THEN my Mexican beachfront hacienda fantasy wouldn't work! Darn it. I WOULD however, read all day, every day! And I'd take a bunch of those long train trips (here and abroad). Basically, travel and read.

Heather, since money is no object in this game, you could just buy your kids their own neighboring hacienda.

And I have to say, these new unreadable word verifications are as frustrating as trying to talk to "Peggy" in tech support.

Annette, if the pirates look like Johnny Depp, bring 'em on!

And I totally agree with you on the unreadable Captchas. What the heck?

Okay, Annette, here's the travel agent 'been there, done that' and I have to say, IMWNO, then I'd be a snow bird. C L is right, all of those South Western places would be weather murder for a 'used to the changing seasons' person. Summer at 106 degrees in the shade???
IMWNO, I'd have a condo in Portland, maybe Naples Florida, Scottsdale Arizona, New York City and I'd spend weeks, not days, in London, Quebec City, and Portland.
Think big guys, remember what they say about small dreams.
Oh, and I take a minimum of 2 cruises a year.

FYI, I turned off the word verification. I don't know why Blogger decided to change it to something unreadable. If the spam gets to be too much we can always turn it back on.

I don't know where I would settle but it will be fun trying to find a favorite. So at first I would travel. Staying at the very best places. No more 2-3 star hotels. Beaches first. Then moutains & lakes. Exotic places, romantic places. You name it I'll try it. But in the end I'm sure it will be near some body of water. And the most important I want all new homes & contents. I'm tired of this old house & remodels. I will have domestic help. And buy my kids anything they want.

YAY! No more word verification! Thanks, Joyce!

Mary, if the pirates look like Johnny Depp, I'm definitely coming with you!

Pat and Becky, I love that you're getting into the spirit of the "If Money Were No Object Game."

It goes without saying that houses in both locations would be brand new (although I do have some furniture I would keep).

And a cleaning staff! And a private chef!

Heather, IMWNO then you'd travel with tutors.
Mary, I'd love to have a cook.

Spent some time in Red River, NM a summer ago and it was fabulous. A whole community spends entires summers there and then vacates when the snows begin.
