Leap Day

The Working Stiffs are taking a well-deserved (well, we think so anyway!) day off for Leap Day. We'll be back on Monday. Enjoy your extra day of February (yeah, right). Feel free to read through the archives. See you next week!

Which poses the question, why the heck do they give us the extra day in FEBRUARY? The weather sucks and we just want to get it OVER. Why not give us an extra day in June?

Who planned this stupid calendar? I want to talk to him.

Annette, I couldn't agree more. Me, I'd pick May. May is the perfect month. Sunny, warm but not too warm. And flowers! Also my birthday, which I'm not having anymore, but it's nice to remember the year my parents borrowed from the neighbors and gave all my 12-yer-old friends pony rides.

I don't remember my ancient history, but didn't Julius Caesar have something to do with the calendar? No wonder they murdered him!

Wait, if we don't blog on Leap Day (a/k/a Sadie Hawkins Day), how am I supposed to propose to my favorite movie actor??? I have to do it on the blog, since we've never met in person. Yet.

Gina, feel free to propose to anyone you want. We're all waiting to see who the lucky guy might be!

Did you guys used to have Sadie Hawkins Dances at school? I never went. I was always too chicken to ask anyone.

I agree, Gina. Go for it!

As for Sadie Hawkins dances, yeah, I think we had a few. I never went either. Fear of rejection.

HA! And here we are now. Writers getting rejected on a regular basis.

C'mon, Gina, I'll bite. Who's your favorite actor??

Can we celebrate leap year by getting rid of that damn word verification? I have a new keyboard that's sticky, and I have to type that stupid code several times before Blogger finally lets me thru the gate. Pretty please?

Well, it's a little awkward to name names, since my current WIP is a short (10-minute, one act) play about kidnapping him. I've changed our names -- I'm Jane and he's Edgar -- and, being my* fantasy, you know Jane ends up releasing him without getting so much as a kiss or a decent conversation . . .

The squiggly letters are gone. If the spam comes back, they might have to make a brief return too.

I'd really like to know, too. Personally, I have a soft spot for Cary Elwes back in his Princess Bride days - can you believe how long ago that is?! - and I would happily have kidnapped him, or proposed to him, either way, back then.

Thanks for the squiggly letter reprieve, Joyce. I wasn't enjoying them much, either. Even when I typed them in right, I had to do it again.
