Sigh.

Davy was my first crush. I had Monkee shades (pink square sunglasses), a Monkee shirt, and posters torn from Tiger Beat magazine all over my bedroom walls. My cousin and I spent an entire summer talking in British accents.

Julia Spencer-Fleming had the best tweet yesterday: Are we sure the boys aren't faking Davy's death to catch an evil mortician who is conning Peter's great-aunt? #whyisntlifeliketheMONKEES

I remember "banana" flavored Monkee bubble gum that came with cards you collected.

If you flipped them over they were a puzzle. LOL

Wow. How entertainment has changed.

Davy was my first crush too! Remember the "stars" twinkling in his eyes whenever he would meet a girl he liked? Then stars would twinkle back from her eyes?

When I was thirteen, I dreamed that he and I met and our eyes "twinkled" at each other. That dream still makes me smile!

Cuddly Toy was my favorite song, Davy sang. My girlfriends and I would dance like Davy whenever he sang that at the end of the show.
A few years later, I learned to play it on play guitar.

Wow, the Monkees, in their heyday, outsold the Beatles and the Rolling Stones combined? That's an incredible fact I had not known before I saw this video.

One of my girlfriends had an insane crush on the Monkees, especially DJ. We would dance like fools in her basement, but when the other girl and I left, she would still be down there, mooning around over him. It was pretty funny, looking back.

All of my crushes were real boys, except for the one I had for Tony Curtis. Swoon. LOL

I did see "The Monkees" until they were in syndication in the early 80s. But I still had a crush on Davy Jones. =)

Oh, Joyce, Tiger Beat! And the accents, too. Such fun memories.

Susan, you're absolutely right!

Yes, Darcy, those twinkles! I'm not remembering Cuddly Toy. Off to Google to check it out...

Here you go, Darcy! You'll have to copy and paste, but I hope you enjoy.

Karen, I was surprised by that, too. Outselling the Beatles and the Stones? Wow.

LOL, Mary. That counts, too!

You've got that right, Nancy.
